One day in ancient America, a man named Enos went into the woods to hunt. As he did so, the words his father taught him concerning eternal life and the joy of the saints sank deep into his heart. His soul hungered. He fell to his knees, wrestling within himself for forgiveness and praying for his soul. His struggles stretched throughout the day and continued into the night, until at last a voice came unto him, saying: "Enos, thy sins are forgiven thee, and thou shalt be blessed."
From the Book of Mormon, Enos chapter 1: 1-6.
In this painting, Enos is on his knees, praying to God for his soul. All other cares have been put aside until his pleas for forgiveness are answered.
